Introduction to The Decalogue

For the last 15 years, organizations in Europe and North America have successfully adopted the Decalogue methodology to make a fundamental shift: from underperformance caused by an anachronistic management approach to total system optimization and unprecedented results.

How is this achieved? By increasing managers' ability to powerfully link three faculties of the mind:

• The ability to generate ideas (intuition)

• The ability to analyze these ideas and examine their far-reaching, systemic implications (understanding)

• The ability to formulate, and knowledgeably execute upon, a comprehensive plan of action, hence matching what we are able to learn with what we can realistically do with that learning in a given timeframe. (Knowledge/consciousness)

These enhanced abilities are achieved with the aid of the Thinking Processes Tools from TOC (the Theory of Constraints). These tools enable individuals to operate effectively within a suitably designed systemic organizational structure and leverage the power of the scientific approach embodied in the Deming PDSA cycle for continuous improvement.

How The Decalogue is deployed

In order to bring about the desired transformation, different phases of change have to be addressed:

• What to change – Achieve clarity on the issues we are facing in our current reality
• What to change to – Design the future reality and anticipate potential negative implications
• How to bring about the change – Develop an action plan as well as the detailed steps to be executed
• Schedule the plan – Synchronize the action plan using the finite capacity approach of TOC
• Manage the plan - Use Independence^TM to control the execution of the plan
• Education for Action – Provide education and ongoing coaching all through the implementation
• Organizational re-design - Identify organizational design changes needed to implement the plan successfully
